Koh Samui is the second largest MICE destination in the South of Thailand, covering and area of 191 sqm. According to TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand), 32,000 Thai and foreign delegates visited Samui for meetings and incentive purposes in 2007, accounting for 17% of all visitors. More than ten hotels are specialized in the MICE market and the biggest conference room on the island caters to 470 people.

Koh Samui flight connections

Koh Samui has an international airport, direct flights to Samui are available from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.

There are more than 20 daily flights from Samui to Bangkok, operated by Bangkok Airways. The flight time to Bangkok is about 55 minutes. Flights are also available to other Thai tourist destinations such as Phuket, Krabi and Pattaya. Koh Samui has three seasons, dry, hot, and rainy. If you plan your corporate team building holidays, the best time to visit Koh Samui is from late December (around Christmas) to the end of February. This is the island's "high season". There is very little rain and beautiful sunny days are followed by a slight dip in the temperature at night. March until September is the hot season. The hottest months being March, April and May. Rain comes and goes from May to September but usually it is a short shower of heavy rain which cools things off.

October until mid to late December is the rainy season. If you are traveling with a tight budget and your team building event is held indoors this is the perfect time to visit Samui. Because it's the rainy season, you will benefit from promotional air fares and reduced hotel rates.

What to do?

On the east coast in the Gulf of Thailand, is Ko Samui. Once on the backpacker's trail with basic facilities, the island has developed into an international resort. Despite development Samui still retains its friendly charm, beach lifestyle and local flavour. The main beaches of Chaweng and Lamai, have a great nightlife with clubs, discos, live music, cool bars and restaurants while Bophut, Maenam and Buddha beach are for those who enjoy a simpler, less hectic lifestyle.
